Tacos and Margaritas anyone?! Yes, yes, yesss…all day every damn day!! Okay…maybe not for breakfast, unless you’re in an airport, in which case, anything goes. East London is the hub of intimate, independent restaurants, which means the vibes are always 10/10 and the food is top quality. This week at Kip we wanted to explore the Mexican options, with our favourite Mexican Restaurants around East London.
Let’s kick start with our absolute fave…which you will definitely have seen us mention before if you’re regular readers of our blog posts (which you really should be!) It’s…Del 74! The atmosphere in Del 74 is immaculate, it’s colourful, friendly, energetic, and the decor is top notch…think, Mexican meets retro. It’s the ideal spot for a night out with friends, a fun date, or Taco Tuesdays, where there’s some great deals on! What to order? The fish tacos are an absolute MUST, and be sure to try the watermelon or spicy margarita…in fact, get both.
Up next, Caldera, traditional Mexican cuisine with a twist, right in the hub of Hackney. The menu combines the very best of Mexican cuisine with unique ingredients all over the world. The restaurant is also home to some incredible decor, with one of the walls covered in work by East London artist, Skeleton Cardboard, inspired by Mexicos ‘Day Of The Dead’ festival. We’d recommend trying the steak nachos, smoked aubergine burrito, and pumpkin, spinach and potato enchilada.

For the lovers of mezcal, we have Dona, a mezcal & music bar in Stoke Newington. The bar is focused on empowering femininity, creativity, and magical mezcal! It’s cosy, pink and a TOTAL vibe. There’s also a bunch of events going on at Dona, comedy nights, dj sets, artists and performers, it’s a great place to discover new talent, meet a bunch of great people, and of course overdo it on the mezcal!
