Our Favourite LGBTQ+ Friendly Spots In East London

Happy PRIDE Month!! Here at Kip we are long standing supporters of the LGBTQ+ community and welcome, with very open arms, all members of the community! At Kip we do not discriminate, we love and respect every single human being of every shape, colour, size, gender or non-gender – what matters to us is that you have the best time with us and get the most out of East London. With this in mind, it’s only right that we give you the lowdown on some of Kip’s favourite LGBTQ+ friendly spots around East London!

Dalston Superstore

.

East London’s self-proclaimed queer pleasure palace…sounds absolutely dreamy, right?! Think a rainbow community space, which acts as a bar, a club/live music venue, some incredible drag performances as well as a cafe AND gallery! What’s wonderful about Dalston Superstore is their championing of the LGBTQ+ community, supporting LGBTQ+ charities and offering a safe and unique space for the queer community.

Dalston Superstore is a 20 minute walk from our hotel in East London or you can hop on the London Overground from Hackney Central to Dalston Kingsland Rail Station.

Vogue Fabrics Dalston

vFd is the hub of Queer arts and super vibey entertainment, supporting thriving and up-and-coming members of the LGBTQ+ community! It offers a space to mix and bond with others, have a laugh, a drink, and a dance, discover new talent AND make change. At the moment vFd is open for weekend drinks, and weekly ‘Transmission’ meetings for Trans+ peeps!

If you’re heading to vFd from your Kip hotel room, it’s just a 24 minute walk away, or take the London Overground from Hackney Central to Dalston Kingsland Rail Station and be there in 19 minutes.

Columbia Road Flower Market

Every Sunday we at Kip, believe it’s essential to get yourself down to Columbia Road flower market, situated between Broadway Market and Shoreditch. It’s colourful, inclusive, uplifting and super refreshing. In our opinion it’s  basically one of the best ways to enjoy Pride Month – buying yourself, your partner or your fellow queers a delicious bunch of flowers, and maybe a house plant…because you can never have too many!

Columbia Road Flower Market is super easy to get to from our hotel in Hackney, just take the 55 bus to Warner Place from Hackney Central, it’s then just a 7 minute walk to flower market heaven.

The Glory

The Glory, an authentic East End pub, disco and LGBTQ+ performance venue…all rolled into one! Are you tempted?! We thought so! It’s one of the best places to be this month, with a real variety of Pride performances taking place; from ‘Fagwartz’, a queer musical quiz, to a night dedicated to songs to “breakup and bleach to”, there’s really something for every member and non-member of the queer community!

From Kip, take the 242 bus to Laburnum Street from Hackney Central and be at The Glory in 23 minutes sharp!

We know we’ve given you quite the selection of Pride inspired to-do’s around East London, but if you wanted to venture further afield, to London’s hub for the queer community, aka Soho, then Kip is still very much the place for you. We’re a convenient distance from Soho, just jump on the 55 bus (it’s a pretty lovely bus ride) and you’ll be there in 38 mins. We cannot wait to welcome you to our hotel for pride month, and can assure you will feel very welcomed and at home!
