Kip’s Top 5 Sunday Roasts In Hackney – For Easter Sunday
A roast on Easter Sunday…doesn’t get any more British than that, does it? We are totally here for it, we’re ready to drown some roasties in gravy, eat 50 chocolate eggs back to back, and polish it off with a full bodied glass of red! We know there are zillions of pubs/Sunday roast spots to pick from in London, but we want to refine it down to our favourite location, Hackney (of course), and Kip’s top 5 Easter Sunday Roast spots…
The Cat & Mutton
It’s right on Broadway Market, and it’s ICONIC. You simply cannot come to Hackney and not go to The Cat & Mutton! It gives us Old English, pub vibes – think dark wood, chandeliers etc…We like to think it would be the outcome of a Peaky Blinders X Bridgerton collab? Of course we would always recommend the Sunday roast (especially because it comes with cauliflower cheese), but if you’re feeling rebellious go for the Korean chicken burger, there’s also plenty of vegan options!
The De Beauvoir Arms
We love this spot mainly because it’s in one of our favourite little East London villages, De Beauvoir town. If you’re looking for countryside village sort of vibes, then this is a great place to start…even though London is very much not the countryside, but we can pretend? The menu changes daily, you’ll have to pop in and check out the old fashioned chalkboard in order to see if there’s anything that tickles your pickle…If you like to do Easter Sunday BIG style, then you can book out ‘the kitchen table’ which seats a a minimum of 10 people.
The Old Ship
The Old Ship is located right in Hackney Central, so if you’re staying with us then it’s got to be your go to! The Old Ship is literally minutes away from Kip, and serves a real great mix of cocktails, our go to is a rhubarb sour or rose & tonic spritz…or if you just fancy a pint, there’s that too. They’re really into burgers at the old ship, if you share an equal love for a patty, then you should definitely try it out!
Marksman
Michelin pub of the year – meets – neighbourhood local boozer…the ideal combo, right? A little bit posh and a lot of East London. Get yourself a blood orange mimosa (we’re actually salivating right now), some Oysters (if you’re feeling flirty), a full roast, and of course a hot chocolate pudding to finish!
The Kenton
The Kenton is famous in Hackney for its roasts, so naturally it had to be on our list of top 5 Sunday roasts in Hackney! Not only is it bright yellow (which always adds extra points), but they also host a bunch of events; board game nights, live music, dj sets etc… We know we already said it, but…the roasts are IMMENSE! Think, Yorkshire puds as large as Kim Kardashians ego, the sexiest butternut squash vegan roast you ever did taste, and lots of red wine.
Whatever you pick, we know you and your taste buds will have a great time. Wishing you a very Happy Easter, from us lot at Kip!
