Autumn in East London: The Best Seasonal Grub - Kip Hotel London

Autumn in East London : Where to get the best seasonal grub

Autumn is nice for many reasons; auburn leaves crunching underfoot, cosy nights in, and bonfire night to name a few. But why do we really love autumn here at Kip? The food.

Root veggies, warming stews and carb-loading are what this season is all about. So we’ve compiled a list of some local eateries where we recommend you get your fill this Autumn…

Leroy

Shoreditch restaurant, Leroy, offers the cheapest Michelin-starred meal in the UK – with diners able to get a three-course meal for just £23! Tuck into some Yorkshire lamb leg and roast duck with pumpkin – you can’t get more autumnal than that, can you?

Nest

Okay, we lied, you can get more Autumnal than that. Nest, in Hackney, have seasonal tasting menus that, to avoid waste, showcase only one meat at a time. The current “Game Bird Sample Menu”, features Wood Pigeon one week and Mallard the next, followed by Yorkshire Beef. Dishes like squash, sage & ragstone, and wild mushroom & seaweed tart accompany the meats for a well rounded and pretty delicious fall feast.

Grow

Grow source their products as ethically and locally as possible, in order to minimise their environmental impact. They focus on operating as ethically and sustainably as possible, from the sourcing of ingredients to compostable packaging. They offer vegan, vegetarian and meat options and have a delish range of autumnal eats. Think grilled lamb chops, hummus and sharing platters.

E9 – 11 mins from Kip Hotel via overground

Pidgin

In over three years Pidgin has yet to repeat a single dish. Serving up a weekly changing tasting menu focussed around four central courses, think mallard and beetroot, chicken liver risotto with mushroom and pine nuts, and chai custard with maple poached apple. Yum, yum, yum.

The English Restaurant

Pork tenderloin and caramelised apricot, followed by Lamb neck fillet with garlic mash… yes, please. The English Restaurant is a snug, wood-panelled restaurant in a 1600s townhouse in Spitalfields, serving classic British dishes all day. Get yer’self down there for winter warmers aplenty!
