A Hackney Halloween: what to do?

Halloween is fast approaching. And whether you’re staying with us at Kip Hotel, or just looking for some spooky inspiration around Hackney, we’ve got you covered with our favourite upcoming special events nearby.

Halloween Disco @ Night Tales Loft

Hackney halloween

NT’s loft is one of the most iconic venues in East London, it’s cosy club and also has a terrace space with epic views over Hackney. NT’s is guaranteed a good night and always has great DJs playing, but for Halloween, they are turning up the volume BIIG style! The theme is ‘monster ball’, with house, disco & Halloween classics – ft special guest Peach and Kumquat. Night Tales is also super close to us at Kip, so even more of an excuse to throw some shapes over there and then roll into bed with us after.

Night Tales, 207, 1 Westgate St, London https://ra.co/events/1579873

Ghost Newington

Halloween in Hackney

If you’re up for being properly freaked out/want a proper cheesy Halloween activity, then keep reading… Ghost Newington is a nighttime tour in (yes you guessed it) Stoke Newington lead by immersive theatre makers, basically a walking haunted house with pub stops on the way. It’ll most likely terrify the living daylight (or night light…) out of you, but if you neck back a few tequila shots, it’ll be a breeze.

Ghost Newington, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, from October 15 – 31, 6.30-9pm, The Coach and Horses, 178 Stoke Newington High St, N16 7JL; tickets are £20. https://www.designmynight.com/london/whats-on/bar-crawl/ghost-newington

The Ten Bells

Hackney Halloween events

If you’re looking for an OG (aka original gangsta) spooky pub, then the Ten Bells in Spitalfields is a good shout. The Ten Bells gets its spooky rep for its entanglement in Jack the Ripper’s story, but things get even more creepy when you find out that one of the pub’s landlords was murdered there with an axe and supposedly has been terrorising staff there. Sounds absolutely awful, but also a little bit thrilling…if that’s your sort of thing 😉

84 Commercial Street, London, E1 6LY

Nosferatu Spooky Screening

Creep down to Mile End Road on Sunday 30th of October, for a screening of the classic Halloween movie, Nosferatu, at The Genesis cinema. We LOVE a good spooky movie around this time of year, and the only way to do it is at an old-school theatre, to really add that spooky factor. The cinema will also be showing ‘Poltergeist’ and ‘The Lost Boys.’
