5 Must-Visit Places Within 5 Minutes of Kip Hotel
Surrounded by cool places to eat, dance and stretch – here are five local spots to check out during your stay at Kip Hotel, East London.
When it comes to London neighbourhoods, Hackney’s like that friend who always knows the next trend, the secret bar that’s just opened, or where to get the best vegan bao buns this side of the city. Okay, we might be a bit biased (being our home and all) but you won’t be short of great places to go when you stay with us. And luckily, as we’re right in the heart of Hackney, you can find some of those great places just a hop, skip and a jump from your hotel room.
Oslo
Literally within a minute’s walk from the hotel, Oslo is our go-to for ‘one more drink?’ before getting our kip. Built in a redeveloped train station, it’s a day-to-night hangout with a cool, Nordic vibe.
Downstairs, it’s open all day for food (we strongly recommend the spiced halloumi sub) and by night, it’s a great place to go for good music in your ears and a good drink in your hand. Want more of a party? Take a look on Oslo’s event page for the latest club nights, then swing a right and head upstairs.

Night Tales
Opened by the same crew behind one of our other Hackney favourites, NT’s – Night Tales is a bar-meets-club under two 1,600 sq. ft. railway arches, with a Funktion-One Sound System and a stellar lineup of events and club nights.
Boasting East London’s largest covered terrace (4000 sq. ft), expect live music, a 10m Agave bar, pastel-coloured private booths and palm trees everywhere. Guess what? It’s all within just 4 minutes walk of the hotel.
Get Directions: 14 Bohemia Place, London, E8 1DU
When: Friday 8pm – 3am / Saturday 8pm – 3am

Fat Baby
Fat Baby is the in-house restaurant of Night Tales, with one of those ‘seriously, can I order everything?’ menus. Inspired by small hole-in-the-wall eateries found in the backstreets of Tokyo, it specialises in Yakitori and Izakaya style Japanese cooking (they even have their own custom-made robata grill).
With loads of options to choose from, it has a seasonal menu that changes weekly and is set in that same, balmy vibe of Night Tales – so you can go from dumplings to dancing in no time.

Paper Dress Vintage
Vintage boutique by day, event space and bar by night – we’re not exactly sure if and when Paper Dress Vintage sleeps (guys, if you ever need to catch some Zzz’s, we’re just across the road). But either way, they’ve got it all.
Retro threads? Check. Personal shopper? Check. Yoga studio? Check. A friendly house party vibe with live music, art, cocktails and events? You bet. It’s right on the corner, just 2 minutes walk from our front door.
Get Directions: 352a Mare St, London E8 1HR
When: Boutique: 10am – 7:30pm / Bar: 12pm Onwards (Change Day-to-Day)

ABQ London
Time to cook! ABQ tip themselves as the world’s first immersive molecular cocktail bar, where you can make and infuse your own drinks in an RV-lab to some hip-hop and gangster rap tunes.
From the lab, to the yellow hazmat suits, it reminds us of a certain series *cough* Breaking Bad *cough* but that’s kind of the point. If you’re after a fun night with a big group (and some seriously good Vegan pizza hidden in the back) then ABQ is the place to go.
Get Directions: 18 Bohemia Pl, London E8 1DU (right next to Night Tales & Fat Baby)
When: Wednesday to Sunday (Various Opening Times)
